Sometimes I have these 'flashes' and they last really short but while they last long enough to 'tell' me things. Like if something is going to happen or not, or sometimes even what is going to happen. However, when I tell them to other people they usually work out completly differend or not at all. When I keep them to myself they are almost always correct. Anyway when I have it it's really weird it's like I see two images but the image of the real world is weaker, the image of the 'things I see' is stronger and more clear. Although I can still tell which one is the real one. I can't seem to hold on the fake image either. I tried and sometimes I could hold it on for just a second or 2, and then it leaves. It never lasts long; it's just a flash that shows me things and it takes a maximum of 4 seconds. And it's not déja vu or my strong imagination. My grandfather could really see into the future and when he fought in World War 2 he could see how someone would die. I sometimes have dreams too that sometimes seem to make no sense but when something happens in my life I can make the connection between the dream and the situation in my life.
Does anyone recognize him/herself in this?

I think sometimes the non-verbal part of your brain will put clues together without you going through the conscious process of putting everything together in a logical fashion. So the answer appears to you as a "flash" from out of nowhere, where in reality your unconscious mind was working on it. When a flash seems to predict the future, it was your unconscious mind putting together clues of what would probably happen.

A famous story about the unconscious mind giving us information in a flash has to do with the scientist who discovered the structure of benzene. He was trying to learn how a benzene molecule was put together, but he couldn't figure it out. Then he had a dream about a circle of snakes, each with its tail in the next snake's mouth. It turns out that the atoms in a benzene molecule are arranged in a ring, just like the snakes in his dream.
