This dream isn't new, but for the life of me, I haven't got a clue what it means. I usually have at least some kind of vague idea, but this one's got me beat. I had it... last summer maybe? Anyway, in the dream I'm walking through this old, eerie, abandoned factory. There's nobody around but me, and I'm just meandering along. The whole place looks to be just aisle after aisle of junk machinery discarded on shelves. So, I'm walking down this aisle and I see this ugly, totally creepy, somewhat evil-looking zombie bird thing sitting on some junk on a shelf up ahead of me. It's not big-- about like any normal robin, sparrow, whatever. Its eyes (or sockets, rather) are kind of glowy-red and it's staring daggers at me. I approach it and it tells me to find its body, which is in my backyard, and bury it. So now I'm trudging through my considerably large backyard, looking carefully over the ground for the bird's body. The yard is rectangular, and, making my way clockwise around it, I round a corner where there are some tiny trees, and start to come back. Only, I hear a voice say, "Hey!" It's not very loud and there doesn't seem to be anything around, so I ignore it. But this time I hear, "HEY!" I stop again, mid-step. I look around, but all I see is a small tree to my left and long, low hanging branches to my right. Awkwardly, I turn to see a big leaf hanging not a couple feet from me, face-level. It doesn't do anything, but I have the strange feeling it's staring at me. It continues, "WATCH YOUR STEP!!!" By now I'm accepting the fact that the tree is yelling at me. I look down, where my foot is still suspended in the air, and see right under it the bird's skeleton. If the tree hadn't stopped me, I probably would have stepped on it and destroyed it... But at the same time, I can't help but feel vaguely irritated at the fact that if it hadn't yelled at me in the first place, I probably would not have been distracted enough to step without looking. Anyway, while I'm looking at the skeleton and not paying attention to the tree, it's babbling in some sing-song way. I don't really like the tree. When it speaks to me it always yells, and sings to itself when it's not doing that. So, I bury the bird and that's that. By the way, the tree is not angry. It's yelling in an irritating, over-enunciated way-- like a person trying (idiotically) to communicate with someone who either doesn't speak his language or is hard of hearing. It's not really demeaning, but couldn't be much more annoying if he was yelling in a monotone.
I'm not particularly good at this, but here's what I think. Perhaps the bird represents something unpleasant in your mind at the time of the dream. Something that you want to forget about, and so it is asking you to bury it, in otherwords, your sub-concious mind was telling you to forget about this unpleasent thing. About the tree, I'm afraid I cannot tell you.
It's not actually the tree that is yelling The thing that cries "Hey" and yells at you is a fairy that we all love to hate. She just happens to be hiding behind the leaf when you stopped. Can't explain the bird. Was there anything going on at the time that may have surfaced -- something that haunted you upon waking or discomforted you in anyway? That is the only explanation for the zombie bird I can think of. If this is the case, your burying of its "body" could signify the burying of whatever was disturbing you in reality.
