Hello all, It is my first post I want your thoughts on this: Do you feel that because your parents may have supported you when you were younger, that you "owe" it to them to support them now? (Pay the bills they run up etc, just because they did it for you when you were younger and unable to work) Thanks.
I'm not sure you can put 'should' and 'feel' together in this context. People feel what they feel, you can't really help it. I think there is a lot of anxiety caused when people suffer internal struggles over what they are feeling about a situation, and what they think they should be feeling.
I voted no because your parents chose to have you, which makes them responsible for your welfare. On the other hand, you didn't choose your parents. (I am talking about what your parents did for you as a child. If your parents took care of you when you were an adult, for example, if you were 25 years old, living with your parents, and paying no rent or reduced rent, then you to have the responsibility of paying them back in some way, because in that case it's no longer a parent/child relationship but an adult/adult relationship.)
