 I normally sleep like the dead, but last night had a dream that puzzled me and woke me up.
I am in a beachhouse, 2 storey looking at the sunny ocean. There are hundreds of families on the beach swimming in the surf. A larger than normal wave comes in, no one worries. In the next 1/2 hour about 6-8 large waves come in each one larger than the last 4mtrs, then 6 the 8-10 etc. Somewhere along this timeline no one is now swimming on the beach but there are a lot of people in houses like the one we are in pointing, but no one is panicking or running away. A really huge wave comes in. about 20 mtrs. there is no time to do anything but look. A roar developes I can see a solid wall of water blotting everything else out, The house tilts to the base of the wave. No one is screaming, my kids are here, other people too but i dont know who they are. I know its going to be bad. I cannot see how we will survive this. There is sand at the base of the wave, the water is blue green, with streaks of sand being sucked upwards. The wall of water looks solid but moving, grinding, roaring. We are at the very bottom, with the wave curling over the house many metres above dwarfing it and us.The house is next, I feel it shift. It will be sucked up base first and the wave will any second break over us. I know we will be hard pressed to survive, but am not terrified, and still have hope we will come out although the odds seem spectacularly against this. I wake up. Not in a cold sweat or anything, just wake. It is 2.11am. The dream is vivid, in colour and very real.
Any ideas what this could mean.

Hi, I've had dream like that myself in the past, with a huge wave hundreds of feet/metres high. I guess tsunamis have featured greatly in people's lives over the last year so you might need to take that into consideration. Though from your unconscious's point of view large amounts of water usually represent emotions in one form or another, when we are upset we cry 'floods' of tears.

This is a snippet from the dream dictionary, specifically on tidal waves:

    Hope that helps. :)
