Basically Steam is the new engine for searching out and playing Sierra games; Half Life, Counter Strike, Team Fortress etc... You can install Steam without any games on it but Steam will have to search for the files and download before you can play TFC for instance. So downloading Steam with the games you play will save time and hassle in the long run... Through Steam will soon be the only way to play these games as the WON network is going off-line. Steam is pants but within 2 weeks everything half-life related will be Steamed so we have no choice but to use it, just hope they bring out a patch to sort it out, loads of ppl having major problems with it.
It was updated the day before yesterday, should do it automatically when you try and use it. It does have a lot of good points when you finally get it working; you can change all your options without having to leave a game, which is really good... :robot:
I HATE STEAM! crashes all the time and thats if it lets me in to a game, never gets past 'precaching resources' on DOD. help!! must be in ww2!! :boom:
Your operating system is six years old; ms never imagined computers and games would run at such speeds when they wrote it. BTW, Win 2000 is much more stable but it isn't really a legitimate upgrade from Windows 98, being mainly for offices and businesses. Windows XP = Win
Same applies though, millenium was sort of XP but not quite finished yet... like you say, the work of the deVIL
